CNN —On any other afternoon at any other tournament, Adam Hadwin’s seventh hole would have served up the most surreal scenes of the day. During the second round of the PGA Championship though, it was just another hole. Having lost his club to the waters of Kentucky’s Valhalla Golf Club on Friday, the Canadian golfer stood by as one overzealous fan took the plunge to return it to him. Yet there was no happy ending to the hole for Hadwin, who went on to make bogey on the par-five. How exactly the club ended up in the lake remains unclear, but the one-time PGA Tour winner has previous.

At the University of California, Los Angeles, student journalists reporting on violent clashes between protesters said they were assaulted and gassed. On some college campuses rocked by the demonstrations, access has been restricted to students only, effectively making student journalists the only reliable news media reporting on the campus protests and clashes. Student Editor Anna Dai-Liu told CNN that she was gassed, and other student reporters were assaulted, with one reporter being taken to emergency care. “Student journalists have a unique and essential role on their campuses in observing and disseminating news,” said Gary Green, executive director of the Student Press Law Center. Jelani Cobb, dean of the Columbia Journalism School, also applauded student journalists for their reporting on the campus protests.

The Murrieta Police Department has been using Lego heads and emojis to cover people's faces in posts on social sites since at least early 2023. “Why the covered faces?” the department wrote March 18 in an Instagram post that featured five people in a lineup, their faces covered by Lego heads with varying expressions. The post went on to reference a California law that took effect Jan. 1, limiting departments in sharing mugshots on social media. The California law’s primary sponsor, Assemblymember Corey Jackson, said that while the Lego heads protect people's privacy, he wonders how Murrieta residents see it. “Do they want people, who are being paid with their tax dollars, be paid to put Lego faces on people so it can be shown on social media?

On Dec. 7, when Trump appeared in a Manhattan court for a civil fraud trial, his main fundraising group reported taking in around $200,000 in online contributions. The recent slowdown suggests Trump is getting diminishing returns from his legal problems as he closes in on his Republican Party's nomination to face Democratic incumbent Joe Biden in the Nov. 5 election. The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the apparent fundraising slowdown. SLOWDOWNThe smaller daily hauls around Trump's legal problems in late 2023 were part of a broader slowdown in his campaign's fundraising. Trump's legal problems are also showing increasing signs of being a direct drag on the finances of his election effort.

To try to understand his enduring appeal, Reuters spoke to five Trump supporters in five general election battleground states: Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Trump currently leads Democratic President Joe Biden in several swing state general election polls, suggesting he will be highly competitive in a likely re-match next November. None are full-blown "election deniers" backing Trump's false claims that he, and not Biden, won the 2020 election. The second issue that swung Ruiz back behind Trump was the multiple criminal charges against him. Johnson likes Trump's tough stance on migration, and believes Trump will slow the crossings and deport as many migrants as feasibly possible.

A lead prosecutor and a judge involved in separate criminal cases against Donald Trump received violent threats within two days of the former president warning that he was "coming after" his foes, court documents allege. NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump isn’t used to constraints. Trump is not only a former president, but also the leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Just days ago, he was fined $5,000 for violating the same gag order, which Engoron imposed after Trump targeted his principal law clerk on social media. Indeed, things are likely to get much more complicated for Trump in the coming months as his four criminal trials get underway.
